What is playfoam made of
Playfoam is made out of tiny microbeads that stick together and be squashed and pressed into different shapes and forms. These microbeads are made of mini polystyrene balls , polystyrene is the same material they make surfboards from!
How to make playfoam
If you have ever made slime you will know have the ingredients you need to make playfoam, for everyone else the list you need to make playfoam is as follows:
- mini polystyrene balls
- glue
- shaving cream
- food coloring (optional)
- dish soap
- large mixing bowl
The steps to make play foam at home are as follows:
- Place the mixing bowl on the table and add in a few squirts of shaving cream and food coloring
- mix the solution until the shaving cream has changed color
- add in some dish soap and glue and mix
- dump in the mini polystyrene balls a handful at a time until you achieve the correct consistency
- you dont want a runny mix but a slightly sticky mix with a thin coating on the mini polystyrene balls.
